I know I’ve never done a hero of the week on this blog, but I think I will start now. Or at least just this once.
I read this story on CNN.com and was moved to tears by the generosity of another human being towards another.
The story was about Tracy Orr, a woman who had encountered some bad luck in her life and lost her job. Because she lost her job, she also was not able to pay her mortgage, resulting in her home to be foreclosed.
Orr was at the house auction along with several others, including a woman named Marilyn Mock. Marilyn struck up a conversation with Orr by asking her “Are you here to buy a house?”. With this question, Orr began crying and pointed out her home to Mock in the auction brochure.
To make a long story short, once Orr’s house came up in the auction, Mock purchased it for $30,000 and turned the keys over to Orr. Marilyn Mock bought back Orr’s house.
About Orr making the payments, Mock went on to say, “We’ll just figure out however much she can pay on it. That way, she can have her house back.”
Mock went on to say, ““She was just so sad. You put yourself in their situation and you realize you just got to do something…If it was you, you’d want somebody to stop and help you.”
But Mock is getting something out of the deal too. Orr’s house is located near a Texas fishing hot-spot. Mock states, “She (Orr) says I can come up there and fish, and I love to fish!”
As for Orr, she says Mock has “given me back faith and hope to keep going and hold my head up…things happen for a reason.”
