And So The World Exhales A Collective Sigh Of Relief…

It is truly an exciting time to be an American.  I look forward to seeing what the next four years will bring and how we will look when the first term is done.

When I was a child I can recall many adults saying that we would never see an African American president.  I’m glad they were wrong.

Color of skin aside, people need to focus on what this man will do for America while in the White House.  That’s what it’s all about.  I personally know people who refused to vote for Obama simply because he is African American.  They gave no other reason.  I would think in 2008 we would be beyond that.

So I’m counting the days until idiot Bush is completely gone and America can start building itself back up to what it once was:  a union of strength, faith and belief in our Leader.

We once said “Yes, we can” and now we can say “Yes, we did!”

Congrats, President Obama.  You will make a fine president.

  1. Wow … people voting and not voting on the race factor alone. Scary, huh? I, too, am glad to live to see a black American take the highest office. I think it will offer alot of hope to people from all different backgrounds. I also think, as you’ve pointed out here, that it will ruffle some long stuffed away feathers of racism in our country. Check out my recent blog Election & Race if you like, but even more so if you are interested, I came across an article from TIME online that hits this very issue. Haven’t had time to read it yet myself though, but it sounds interesting!
