Never give up, Tedy

Sadly it was announced earlier this evening that tomorrow Patriots  linebacker Tedy Bruschi will announce his retirement.

Ironically I just finished reading his book “Never Give Up” which entails the experience he had following his stroke.  It is probably the most inspirational book I have ever read.  I think if more people lived with the mantra of “Never Give Up” in their lives, they would be happier with themselves and what they do.

Tedy will be greatly missed both on and off the field.  I hope we do see him behind the scenes in some capacity within the Patriots organization.

Here’s wishing him the best of luck in whatever he does. :)

A true legacy to be remembered always

There’s an old saying among the people of Massachusetts about the Kennedy clan…”you either love ‘em or hate ‘em”.

Say what you want about Senator Edward M. Kennedy.  Was he perfect?  Certainly not.   There’s no doubt the man had his faults.  But he took what he was given as far as his political clout, wealth and family name went and did many good things with it.  Good things for the people.

Some of his legislative activities include:  health insurance for children of the working poor and the Americans with Disabilities Act.  He was also very key in the development of the Family Leave Act, OSHA and the No Child Left Behind educational program.
These are just a few of the many things Kennedy accomplished during his long tenure in the Senate.  Love him or hate him for what he did or didn’t do, he will remain a true icon in the political world, as well as in the general population.
Knowing Senator Kennedy was my state’s senator for so many years makes me proud to be a Massachusettsian.

Hang it up already, Favre!

Let’s see…this is what, the 100th time Brett Favre has unretired?  Give us a break!

It’s bad enough the Eagles have taken on Vick (and I don’t think that was half as dumb a move as the Vikings taking on Favre); but enough is enough!  If you say you’re retired, you’re retired.  Even Michael Jordan hung it back up after his first “unretirement”!

So here comes Favre.  The Vikings coach kisses his ass, leaving practice early to go pick Favre up at the airport (how convenient for Favre to have MISSED the entire football camp, eh?), then telling the player currently wearing #4 that he can’t wear #4 because, of course, it’s Favre’s number!

Give it up, Favre.  Retire and stay retired.  Enjoy it.  Football is just a game.  Your life isn’t.  To the Vikings:  SUCKERS!
